Event Kings began with a vision long before our first gig.
In February 2018, Rhoda King’ori and I registered Event Kings with a shared dream of building something of our own. At the time, I was working at Events & Promotions Limited, one of Kenya’s leading event companies, while Rhoda was working with Codered Events, which later closed its business. We both had experience in the events industry, but we patiently waited for the right moment to take that step.
Then COVID-19 brought the events industry to a standstill. After seven months with little work and my salary reduced by half, I decided to resign. It was a difficult decision, but looking back, it was a blessing in disguise—the push I needed to turn our long-held vision into reality.
On 14 October 2020, we began a new chapter with just 16 indoor LED PAR 64 fixtures, eight BSW 230W fixtures and the determination to make every opportunity count.
Our beginnings were modest. We had occasional gigs, limited equipment and client relationships that took time to build. Every booking mattered. We showed up, kept our promises and gave each event our best. Slowly, we earned trust and grew one client, one opportunity and one event at a time.
